Marie MacCormick took on the role as SEATAC Program Director in December 2019. Her hands-on experience in underwater technology, in-depth knowledge of high-growth SMEs, and her entrepreneurial attitude give her a unique perspective on how to support the research and development needs of the ocean technology sector.
Marie obtained her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie University, and started her career at a small, ocean technology company in Halifax. She worked there for several years before she moved to California where she continued to advance her career in ocean technology. Upon returning home to Halifax, she completed an MBA from Saint Mary’s University and, most recently, worked at the Business Development Bank of Canada as a Business Advisor for High Impact Firms.
“Our goal is to help companies become more competitive and strengthen our ocean technology sector,” says Marie. “Atlantic Canadian companies can compete on a global scale, and SEATAC is here to offer support in the form of tools, talent, and expertise.”
